January opportunities to check out

Every month, we’ll update our blog with interesting opportunities and open calls for young and emerging artists to engage with. Check out what we recommend right now below.

The Body as a Reference for (R)Evolution
Gothenburg Fringe and United Cowboys have launched an open call for a co-creation called The Body as a Reference for (R)Evolution, to be created and performed in Gothenburg between 25 February and 5 March 2022.

To participate in the co-creation, it is recommended to have experience in art (any form) and have the eagerness to explore new ways and new approaches. Including skills and or affinity with physicality and movement. Education in dance is an advantage.

Chosen artists will be paid for their participation. The call is open until 31 January and further details on how to apply can be found here.

Open Stage 2022 - Regionteater Väst
Do you have a show for children and young people in development? Do you want to share your idea and material with an experienced playwright or choreographer?

During an inspiring full-day, short performance excerpts are interspersed with feedback from coaches with extensive experience in performing arts for children and young people. The audience includes invited producers, organizers, dance artists and other industry players and we are guided through the day by a moderator at Frölunda Kulturhus in Gothenburg on 2 March 2022, as part of Step - International Dance Festival for Young Audiences.

The deadline for application is on 28 January. Information on how to apply can be found here.

Nordic Fringe Network Global Artist Call
The Nordic Fringe Network (NFN) artist call is on the hunt for a variety of shows and performances from local and international talent. Fringe festivals offer an ideal opportunity for young and emerging artists to bring their new works in front of a curious and passionate audience.

Since its 2017 launch, the network has expanded across the Nordic region and 2022 will see seven festivals take place between May and September in Sweden, Finland, Iceland and Norway included in the call. Three of the festivals take place in Sweden - Gothenburg, Stockholm and Tranås. With one application, you can apply for as many festivals as you like and the call is open until 16 January. More information on the network and details on how to apply can be found here.
